Who should Prepare for IAS?

0

Every year lakhs of people give the UPSC exam for a few thousand seats. IAS is one of the white collar jobs dreamt by many.

But before starting to prepare for civil services exam or any other career, what factors should be considered?

There are two major factors to be taken into consideration when preparing for civil services. Just ask these two questions:
1 Do I have the set of abilities, the skill set required during the preparation and job?
2 Do I have the interest and passion for work of a civil servant?

There has been many instances of IAS suiciding, just because they became IAS because of their abilities but didn’t have the passion for job.

There are many popular civil servants serving at highest positions in the government but still they are not satisfied and happy. Deep inside they know civil services is not their cup of tea.

There are two major choices everyone has to make in their life, choosing

CAREER

SPOUSE

Choosing career is a decision of responsibility because after a certain age it can be difficult to switch jobs.

So, a person who really wants to start preparing for IAS should question himself.

Will I be happy working 24*7?
Will I be happy dealing with political pressure?
Will I be happy dealing with goons and mafias (especially if you get IPS)?
Am I willing to sacrifice a 9-5 confortable job with much less workload?

An IAS aspirant should have the necessary capabilites, he/she must be active, social, asserting power and interested in bringing change in society.

OfCourse with great responsibility comes great power. There are both perks and disadvantages of being an IAS, but the decision is yours.
